Nearby beaches and surfing spots:

Driftwood 1006 is situated at a small stretch of rocky shore line between two long stretches of sandy beaches, Blouberg beach and Big Bay beach. Be warned! The water temperature is usually between 10 and 18 degrees, quite chilly most of the time!

Small Bay

Perfect for the family with young children. During low tide Small Bay is like a big puddle, almost no waves and very safe for younger children to play in with a white sandy beach that stretches around it. A play park at the one end of the Bay is ideal for a family picnic.

Big Bay

Excellent for surfing and body boarding with right and left beach breaks. When the well known South Easter wind is blowing, the conditions are fantastic for wind surfing and kite surfing. Shower facilities are availably on the beach and life savers are around during summer time. During low tide you can walk through shallow water to the 'island', a rock formation that is only exposed during low tide.

Horse Trails

Left and right beach breakers for surfing. Sometimes makes good wedges.

Derde steen

A-frame beach breaks. Powerful and solid on good days, especially early in the mornings.

Melkbosstrand

The waves get real hollow when the South Easter is blowing and is great for tube riding.

Dolphin Beach

This is one of the most famous beaches in Cape Town. It is the premier spot for hundreds of kite surfers during summer time.

Many water sport competitions like jet-skiing, kite surfing, surfing, body boarding and rubber ducking take place through out the year along this stretch of white sandy beach with ample space for everyone.

Our own beach – 50m away.

This small secluded beach is very famous for weddings and wedding pictures during the summer time. Many a post card picture has been taken from here toward Table Mountain.

During low tide rock pools are exposed and children can swim and explore the abundance of sea life.

Take your beach towel, a good novel and sun tan lotion. Walk down to the beach in 50 paces and enjoy picking up shells, take a dip in the refreshing water or relax in the sun while catching a good tan for the rest of the day.

Eating out

Petits Fours:

Have a scrumptious breakfast on the beach front with a view of Table Mountain. About 2 minutes walk from Driftwood 1006. I would highly recommend this spot for breakfast. Make sure you are there around 09:00, because they are usually quite booked out.

On The Rocks:

Classy evening meals on the rocky shore's edge! Fine dining with breathtaking views of the ocean and Table Mountain. Only 5 minutes walk from Driftwood 1006.

Ons Huisie:

About 10 minutes walk from Driftwood 1006 along the beachfront. Enjoy the view over Small Bay while you are served with great West Coast Seafood and a whole assortment of South African speciality foods.

Blue Peter Hotel:

A world famous spot for sun downers. Order your drink, take a seat on the lawn and enjoy the magnificent sunset over the ocean. Only about 15 minutes walk away from Driftwood 1006, just enough to built up an appetite! They are famous for their pizzas to fill the gap.

These are just a few of the many restaurants in the area! Please ask me for recommendations if you want to take a drive.
